I've been on and off Last.fm for two and a half years now, but I've never stopped loving it and this is my fourth incarnation on the worlds best social music website. This is my Top 50 Artists that I've listened to over the past year, with a few comments of my own added.

50. Pendulum, 109 plays - Not a great start, this is on here for the stoner weekends I spent last summer at my mates flat. Pendulum were all the rage then...

49. Ladytron, 109 plays - I never loved them as much as I should have and with only owning one of their album's, they haven't done the year much justice.

48. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, 110 plays - These guys should be much higher. A collaborative project for The Social Network soundtrack that worked like a motherbitch, they will now be scoring the Millenniumm series (The Girl... insert afixiation here) and have more work as How to Destroy Angels lined up.

47. The Album Leaf, 112 plays - These guys were the shit this time last year. I vividly remember walking through the forest next to my house, after the rainfall and this just fitted perfectly. Beauty in simplicity.

46. Mylo, 115 plays - Before my "electronic" revolution, Mylo kept me on the fringes of diversity, with mellow, lush house tunes. But please, for the love of god, make another album please, it's been 7 years...

45. David Bowie, 115 plays - It's Bowie. Nuff said.

44. Telefon Tel Aviv, 116 plays - I'm still mourning the loss of Charles Cooper, one half of TTV, enough to boost my plays of these genius'.

43. The Dillinger Escape Plan, 117 plays - One of metals finest hours in 2010, both epic in studio and live, these guys probably deserved higher for the power of Option Paralysis.

42. Insomnium - 119 plays - Didn't release anything this year but I saw them live with Dark Tranquillity and they rocked, enough to spike their plays long after the show stopped.

41. Groove Armada, 119 plays - A testemant to how a good review can change your life. I discovered [album]Black Light[/album] by a review in Q (yes, I don't usually read it) and they soon became the soundtrack to my spring.

40. The Jesus and Mary Chain, 123 plays - No-one can beat the awesomeness of The JAMC. My soundtrack for days dark and rainey. In 2010, there was a lot of them.

39. Epica, 123 plays - Perfecting the blend of operatic epicness and even epiccer metal, Epica became one of my first favourite new bands.

38. P!nk, 123 plays - Judging that I only picked up the greatest hits two weeks ago, she's done extremely well to get to this position. Nothing can beat P!nk for some upbeat, ass-kicking tunes, especially ones as good as Raise Your Glass and Fuckin' Perfect

37. Birds of Tokyo, 128 plays - I went to Highbury to see these guys. That's dedication I think. Shame their new album was piss.

36. Amorphis, 138 plays - Skyforger is such an amazing album, my huge amount of listens spilled over into 2010 (and 2011). You can't get a better melodeth album than that.

35. Crystal Castles, 139 plays - I don't think I played these guys enough last year, seeing as they released one of the best albums of last year, Crystal Castles (II) is heaps better than the first, showing they have the longetivity to pull off a career.

34. Justice, 139 plays - Yeah they sound a lot like Daft Punk but they are still fucking cool and Cross was one of my best discoveries of last year. Pick up if you have ANY interest in electronic music.

33. The xx, 150 plays - Like they slowly curned along with sales of their simplistic debut, they slowly made their way into my listening habits. I have never heard such a simple album, [album]The xx[/album] be so emotionally complex.

32. Schiller, 154 plays - Wayyyyy too overplayed, I just used to leave Atemlos on whilst I monged out or fell asleep and it's a box set containing four discs, so you can tell I didn't really listen to them that much. Fuckin' drugs for ya.

31. Utada Hikaru, 157 plays - The year I fell in love with Japan and all its glorious music, was the year I discovered Japan's biggest star, Utada Hikaru. If you think Japanese music has no quality, listen to ULTRA BLUE and tell me it's not good. What's even better is the new single collection Utada Hikaru Single Collection, Vol. 2 with all her best tracks. Who cares if you can't understand it? It fuckin' rocks.

30. KMFDM, 162 plays - Another band I played way too much, they actually aren't all that but their new greatest hits, Greatest Shit collects all their best songs from their mediocre albums. Get it!

29. Katatonia, 167 plays - Another one. They're cool, overrated, but the bulk of Night is the New Day is ace.

28. 4minute, 172 plays - I like Korean music. Cheesy, shitty Korean Pop. 4minute is one of the few bands you'll find on here that I class as an extremely guilty pleasure. Don't judge me, I'm not a poof.

27. Air, 173 plays - They're French and they make soft, electro-chillout. How can you not like that?! Their new album, Song 2 is not worth it though.

26. Jean-Michel Jarre, 177 plays - This guy is another French genius and one of my biggest influences, especially in the way he envisions music as a whole. Oxygene is the first great electronic music masterpiece. What a legend.

25. ai otsuka, 182 plays - Another Japanese woman and this just plays into that whole "cute" thing that the Japanese go mad for over there. She's actually really good and some of her songs are just great. LOVE PUNCH and LOVE COOK are the best.

24. Kill Hannah, - These guys were one of the first gigs I went to, when I didn't even know who they were, and I'm so glad I went. I saw them for the second time (again, with My Passion) this year and they were even better than the first time. Anyone for more encores of Lips Like Morphine?

23. Queens of the Stone Age, 196 plays - They will always been in my blood and I will NEVER stop loving them. Since I first listened to Era Vulgaris, I have never looked back. Saying that, they should be much higher.

22. Fall Out Boy, 198 plays - No-one can resist the catchy, guilty pop pleasures of Fall Out Boy. Even their worst album, Folie A Deux is still insanely catchy. Leave your inhibitions at the door and "embrace your inner mall kid".

21. The Chemical Brothers, 200 plays - It's really strange that I only have the latest three Chemical albums (eg. the worst ones). In a way I guess I'm holding back on listening to Exit Planet Dust and Dig Your Own Hole. I know that when I hear them they will become my favourite albums, but I'm saving it for another personal music revolution.

20. So-Called Humans, 205 plays - My friends band, they have made one of the best indie/shoegaze/electronica albums in recent years... and it's only got 12 listeners on Last.fm!! Go on, listen to their debut and download some of the tracks here. They are for free so what have you got to lose?

19. How to Destroy Angels, 220 plays - Trent Reznor's new project with Mariqueen Reznor (his wife) and Atticus Ross (his best friend). You can clearly see his influence here, but its more geared towards electronic sounds and a very dark pallet. Judging that they have only released an EP of 6 songs (available here, for free) I have scrobbled them an awful lot this year. BBB has to be my song of 2010.

18. Benn Jordan, 222 plays - I love ambient music and I discovered one of Benn Jordan's (The Flashbulb) ambient albums, Pale Blue Dot which he did, in memory of late scientist Carl Sagan, the album cover is of the famous picture of Earth as a "pale blue dot" as taken by the Voyager telescope and the album follows similar musical, with spacey ambient soundscapes and hauntingly sparse vibes.

17. The Horrors, 235 plays - I love The Horrors so much now, especially after they released Primary Colours in 2009. It took me a while to catch on, but in 2010, I went Horror mad, especially when I saw them live [event=]at the HMV Forum[/event]. I cannot wait for their new album this year!

16. Michael Jackson, 235 plays - Every single person in the world, whether they liked him or not, went crazy for Michael Jackson after he died. I took this chance (and also the HUGE price reductions on his albums) to discover the great man's work. It's now almost a year and a half later and his songs have been integrated into my listening habits, so much so he appears this high up in the list, His new album, Michael is shit though.

15. Janelle Monae, 238 plays - The most innovitave performer to debut in recent memory, her debut album The ArchAndroid, part of a four-part sci-fi saga epic, breaks all bounderies with flair and style. Finally, I've have got tickets to see her, after missing her first two shows. She will be excellent!
